Back in 2008, I was approached by a local web design company who informed me that I needed a new website. This was for the food business I started in college and run to this day.
I accepted their request to submit a quote and to my suprise when I looked into this elaborate templated word document, the quote was for (drum roll) … $68,000. This is something you can’t make up.
This was a website that I had built in 2006 for a measly $600 and which generated six figures in its first 13 months of business.
This is the moment that I knew something was missing between web design companies and small business owners.
In a nuthshell, I am a serial online entrepreneur that has been doing this since my college days back in 2006. I have generated hundreds of thousands of dollars working solely for myself, never having an employee. Through the years of penny pinching and doing it all myself, I have accumulated an extensive team from around the globe.
The reason for me telling you this is not to brag – trust me, as most of you small business owners know, it all sounds great on paper! The reason is to explain that this is not a traditional “Web Design Company.” I can care less about pretty graphics and overpriced designs. I am more concerned with profitability and adding to the bottom line, whether the client wants to raise brand awareness, get the phone to ring or simply provide their customers with more information about their business.
